HER JOURNEY
Singer/Songwriter/Performer "NOVA" born Novelair Peele in Baltimore, Maryland has been a lover of music from an early age. When she was six years old an encyclopedia saleswoman heard her "Big Voice" bellowing from the kitchen and declared: "One day she's going to be a great singer!!"
During her formative years "NOVA" credits Aretha Franklin, Linda Jones, Gladys Knight, Cher, Chaka Khan, Phyllis Hyman, Otis Redding and Michael McDonald as Influences on her Vocal Style and Delivery.
“NOVA’s” Passion for Music Continued to Grow as she Pursued her Dream/Aspirations by Participating in Talent Showcases as a Teen and later Performing Regionally at Clubs, Private Events, Festivals and Venues including The Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, MusikFest (Bethlehem,PA.), The Carter Barron Amphitheatre Summer Concerts (Washington,D.C.), BOPA's Artscape (Baltimore's Premier Festival Of The Arts), The National Black Family Reunion, AFRAM, The Kunte Kinte Heritage Festival (Annapolis,MD.), Charm City's Annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza, The Baltimore International Fests, The Baltimore Waterfront Festival, The Fells Point Fun Fest, Baltimore County's African-American Cultural Festivals, The "Touch Down Baltimore" Ravens Stadium Celebration and The Baltimore Book Festivals among others as The Featured Female Vocalist with Contemporary Rhythm & Soul Act State Of Affairz.

As a Song Stylist/Vocalist Her 'Distinguishable Mezzo' Voice Evokes Vulnerability and Grit; a "Musical Melting Pot" of Gladys Knight, Vicky Anderson, Tina Turner/Joyce Kennedy, Gwen McCrae and Phyllis Hyman with a "dash" of Anita Baker/Lisa Fischer/Edna Wright and Miki Howard blended in for "Seasoning" giving "NOVA" the Versatility to be Equally Expressive Singing Lead Vocals And/Or Background Harmonies Comfortably on Ballads or Up-Tempo/Dance Material. As a previous member of The Baltimore-based Band State Of Affairz for Over 15 years she was/is a "Team Player" who Excels In Either Scenario: An Ensemble/Group/Background Vocalist Setting or as an Individual/Frontline Solo Artist.
